A report from Media Matters asserts that fast-food chain Chick-fil-A donated more than $1.9 million to anti-gay causes in 2010 alone.
Last year, IRS 990 forms revealed that Chick-Fil-A donated nearly $2 million to anti-gay groups in 2009 as well, according to an Equality Matters press release. Three years ago, Chick-Fil-A's charitable arm, WinShape, gave to such organizations as Exodus International, Focus on the Family, Eagle Forum, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Family Research Council. Exodus is one of the world's largest promoters of "ex-gay" therapy.
The Media Matters release showed that WinShape gave money to some of the same groups, including Exodus International, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Family Research Council. However, the chain also donated to the Marriage & Family Foundation, the National Christian Foundation and the Georgia Family Council.
Chick-fil-A continues to deny it has an anti-gay agenda, Media Matters said.
