August 26, 2019 ( Chicago, IL ) — In response to the racist actions and violence that people of color and various religious denominations have endured in El Paso, Dayton and elsewhere, people of all faiths, races and sexual orientation from across Chicago will join the "Let's Fulfill the Dream Together" rally on Wednesday, August 28 at 4pm at Federal Plaza, 219 South Dearborn Street, coinciding with the 56th anniversary of "The March on Washington" and Dr. King's famous "I have a Dream Speech."

The "Let's Fulfill the Dream" rally to end hatred, division and the violence they produce is being organized by: Rainbow Push Coalition; Chicago Women Take Action; SEIU Healthcare; Jewish Council on Urban Affairs; Illinois Muslim Civic Coalition, North American Institute for Mexican Advancement; Indivisible Illinois; Indivisible Chicago; Indivisible Oak Park; J Street; St. Sabina; Clarence Darrow Society; and others.

The scheduled speakers at the rally are U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky, Danny Davis, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia, Bobby Rush, and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. Governor J.B. Pritzker, Mayor Lori Lightfoot, and other representatives have also been invited to attend and to speak.

"The rights and lives of people of color, immigrants, religious minorities and the LGBTQIA community are under unrelenting attack," said Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. "We must fight back and defeat this counter revolution. We're inviting everyone to join the effort to change the right-wing narrative and actions coming from the White House, hate groups and racists to protect and defend the rights and safety of vulnerable members of our community and those across the country."

The organizers are calling for additional allies to help form a citywide network of support and resources for the "Let's Fulfill the Dream" rally. For additional information or to learn how to become a sponsor, please contact Rev. Janette C. Wilson at revjwilson@rainbowpush.org .
