Thanks for all of the responses to last month's article. It's nice to know that the readers are able to relate to the articles and then take the time to respond. It means a lot to me and definitely lets me know that sharing my life with you gives you the awareness that you are not the only one; and that if I was able to grow through the pain, you are able to do it as well.
One response that I received from a reader stated that it appeared as though my spirit was free. She was very perceptive ... because it is. Let me share with you what has happened as a result of me standing up to my mother. Initially, she didn't call me for our usual daily conversation. Days passed. It was so painful. When she did call, she was very aloof. I said my 'I love yous' like I normally do, and she didn't respond. How unsettling that was. I was so hurt.
Even though I was strong enough to stand up to her, I still wanted our relationship to remain the same. OK ... I knew that it wouldn't be exactly the same but I didn't want it to deviate too far from what we had. After about a week or so, she started coming around. I continued to be nice to her when she called. I continued to say 'I love you' even when it wasn't returned. I continued to talk about my Wobo, whether she commented or not. And as a result she has slowly started to come around. Our conversations have resumed their normal tone; she has even started telling me to tell my baby hello, etc.
So you see, standing up for yourself, for what's true to your spirit is sometimes very scary and painful, but it is necessary. We can't always be what or who others want us to be, sometimes we have to stand up and step out on our own in order to live the life that we are destined to live. I know what that is for me and have embarked upon that journey with full speed ahead.
I have since revamped the Web site: www.purrfectharmonyinc.com, with a new vision and direction for my company, the services that I will offer, individual, organizational and corporate; and have moved into the final phases of my next book. So you see I've been busy. I encourage you to go out to the Web site and familiarize yourself with the new vision and new direction, look for upcoming anthologies of previous articles that I have written, as well as sign up for a free five-part e-course (valued at $197) that will assist you in defining your authentic self, and the monthly newsletter. Remember, you are the most important person in your life. If you don't love who you are, how can you expect anyone else to.
Until next month, know thyself ... .
