On Saturday, Aug. 8, Proud to Run presented beneficiaries Affinity Community Services, Chicago House, and AIDS Legal Council of Chicago with donations to support their work for the LGBT community. Thanks to community sponsorships, donations, and support of Proud to Run 2015, the organization was able to donate $40,000 in total.
The amount of $10,000 went to Affinity Community Services to send a group of youth ambassadors to Youth Leadership Conference in Washington DC. They'll be able to meet many influential people including some at the White House, and bring back tools to help their communities in the South Side of Chicago.
A total of $15,000 went to AIDS Legal Council of Chicago that will help them give free legal services to those of low socioeconomic status who are disenfranchised with AIDS/HIV.
And $15,000 went to Chicago House for the Transgender Life Center which is in the same location as their original property where those suffering from AIDS went to pass on peacefully. The Transgender Life Center is such a good way to use that property as a way to revive life now and give these people a chance to live the life they've always wanted.
Finally, $2,500 in proceeds of the Whole Foods Pride Tote bag, sold in stores, went to Chicago House.

The 34th annual Proud To Run is a 10K run & 5K run/walk that celebrates Chicago's diverse community in a fun and healthy way. The Run is open to everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, who wishes to join us in the celebration and show their support. Proud To Run also raises funds to benefit local non-profit LGBTQI&A organizations. Proud To Run is presented in association with Frontrunners/Frontwalkers Chicago, Chicago's LGBT running and walking club. |
