CHICAGO ( August 2015 )—Petterino's ( 150 N. Dearborn St., at Randolph in the heart of the theater district ), is celebrating eight smashingly successful years of its impromptu musical showcase Petterino's Monday Night Live on Monday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Since its debut in September 2007, more than 700 singers have graced the stage for Petterino's' Monday Night Live, co-hosted by Chicago entertainment maven Denise McGowan Tracy and musician extraordinaire Beckie Menzie. This lively environment in a sophisticated, modern supper club setting has attracted singers - both established and emerging - to showcase their talents, offering a unique format of spontaneity, whimsy, music, fun to tourists and locals alike.
Special guest singers at Petterino's Monday Night Live have included Chicago favorites Bonnie Koloc, Nan Mason, Denise Tomasello, Ron Hawking, Dick Judson and the late Jimmy Damon to name a few, as well as cabaret legend Marilyn Maye.
Cast members from productions such as Jersey Boys, Wicked, Dirty Dancing, A Chorus Line, Grease, Disney's Mary Poppins, Sweeney Todd, My Fair Lady, Phantom of the Opera and more have also graced the stage, including Tony Award-winner Jessie Mueller. Porchlight Music Theater has brought in waves of great entertainers, including cast members from their productions including Pal Joey, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Double Trouble.
During Lyric Opera's production of Porgy & Bess, 25 singers joined Monday Night Live for an unofficial closing night party. And, proving that the impromptu format can entice anyone to join the fun, other notable singers over the years have included Hall of Fame Football Coach Marv Levy; and Rance Crain, Crain Communications, in a rousing rendition of "Chantilly Lace."
Admission to the cabaret open mic night is complimentary. There is a $19.95 food and beverage minimum. In addition to classic and signature cocktails and an extensive wine list, guests coming to enjoy dinner may select from the main menu or enjoy a prix fixe menu available only on Monday nights for $19.95. per person with options including: a first course of Tomato Bisque, French Fried Calamari, Irv Kupcinet Chopped Salad and more; an entrée of Housemade Potato Gnocchi, Chicken Pot Pie, Rizzi Chicken Limone, and more; and for the curtain call, Lavazza Espresso Tiramisu, Callebaut Milk Chocolate Mousse Cake and more.
Performances are limited to singing acts, and singers are expected to provide their own sheet music and piano accompaniment.
