On Wed., Aug. 14, U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi ( D-California ) is slated to speak at the Illinois Democratic County Chairs' Association ( IDCCA ) Annual Brunch at the Crowne Plaza Springfield, 3000 S. Dirksen Pkwy., Springfield.

Last year, more than 3,000 people attended the brunch, when the scheduled keynote speaker was former Vice President Joe Biden, the Journal Star noted. Biden had to cancel, but the fill-in speaker gave attendees a sneak peek at someone now on the national stage: presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

According to IDCCA's website, members are Illinois Democratic chairs from all 102 Illinois counties. Kristina Zahorik ( McHenry County ) is the president.

Tickets start at $75 each; visit ildcca.org/chairs-brunch/ .
