BEHIND THE NAME "The name Royale comes from my fascination with royalty and the rise and fall of fame. I was a young art student when I saw Prince Poppycock perform on America's Got Talent, and when I started drag, I knew I wanted my name to reflect royalty and the lush life, which my drag is not. The name Ryan just came afterwords because it just rolls off the tongue."
MY MUSE "My main muse is most definitely Lady Gagashe has this pop-rocker edge that I just love. It's a beautiful mix between hard and soft, edge, rock and glamour. I am also inspired by Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh, Jeremy Scott, Marco Marco, Versace and Mugler, to name a few."
MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW THAT I ... "… have a Bacherlor's degree in fashion design and that I am curently working towards a Master's in social work. I also don't think most people know that besides drag, I also have my own fashion business: Ryan Royale Designs."
WHEN I NEED A PICK-ME-UP, I … "... either go fabric shopping or lock myself away to create. It's a great way to just get inspired and create something beautiful and unique. Getting lost in the whole process of creating a garment is relaxing to me, and helps me reset."
GO-TO NUMBER TO SLAY A CROWD "I have been performing my Lady Gaga at the Super Bowl mix, because it's her greatest hits and everyone will know at least one song in that mix. Plus, it's hilarious to hear an entire audience scream RA-RA-RA-AH-AH during Bad Romance."
WHERE CAN WE CATCH YOU "You can catch me every Friday night at Lips Chicago for our Glitz and Glam show. You can also catch me death-dropping at different bars in Boystown, Andersonville and Rogers Park."
