CHICAGO, IL — The Jackhammer Complex announces the next performance in their ongoing LGBT Concert Series. Solo artist Matt Gold of Bloomington, Indiana will appear live in concert at The Jackhammer Complex located at 6406 N. Clark Street, Chicago IL 60626 on at 10 pm on Friday August 22, 2014. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door on the night of the concert.

Chart-topping and acclaimed singer-songwriter Matt Gold has garnered an international fan base for his boldly emotive music. For Matt and his fans, the haunting and vulnerable quality of his songs have been cathartic, helping them grow through relationship challenges, embracing sexual identity, and meeting life's obstacles through introspection.

Matt established himself on the singer-songwriter scene playing shows on college campuses and small venues, building a robust fan base before releasing his first album. His music resonates with people because of his expressive vocals, his accessible pop sense, and his gorgeous touch on the piano. In addition to his musicality, it's Matt's story that hits the heart of his listeners. He grew up an adopted only child to very religious parents, and, within this complex world, bravely came out as being gay.

"A lot of performers have paved the way for me with regards to be openly gay," Matt says. "For me, it's all about the music. My goal is to make somebody feel and give them something to nourish their soul."

"The most meaningful moments in my career have been hearing from the fans about how the music has helped them," Matt says conclusively. "There was a boy in Istanbul that reached out to me about how much the music meant to him as a gay person over there. To have that connection, halfway across the world, that means everything to me. That's truly why I make music."

His latest release is the uplifting Let It Out. The EP was recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy winning engineer David Bianco and world-renowned drummer, Kenny Aronoff, producing. The recording captures the warmth and sultriness of Matt's work, featuring topflight musicians and Matt's glorious singing and piano playing. Of the upbeat release he says "All my work has a concept and a different sound because the music is my therapy. As I get happier, so will the music," he confides.

The EP's leadoff single, "Appreciated," is a dose of piano pop-rock. "That is really the lighter side of me, it's about appreciating what people might call the silly things in life like taking a car ride with a friend," Matt says with a laugh. Let It Out also reveals Matt's dreamy side with the ballads "Everything" and "Let It Out."

Previously, Matt released the well-received debut Drown Before You Swim. The album's videos quickly garnered thousands of views, and the album sold briskly on iTunes and Amazon, breaking into Amazon.com's Top 20 Adult Contemporary music downloads for weeks. The album's first single, "Ordinary," reached #13 on the FMQB Adult Contemporary radio play charts. The album continues to earn rave reviews from bloggers, critics, and fans. The Huffington Post says: "For Gold, inspiration is found in key moments in his life's journey." And The Mirror enthuses: "Gold plays a gentle and pensive piano that carries the easy burden of a velvet voice. There is a steady rain in his lyrics. Sometimes driving and cold. Sometimes a soft warm shower." Most recently, Let It Out's leadoff single, "Appreciated," has charted on the Billboard Hot AC chart, a rare feat for a totally independent artist.

The Jackhammer Complex is an LGBT Nightclub and entertainment complex located in the former Ashland Arms Hotel at 6406 N Clark Street in Chicago. Near the red line and on several bus routes at the corner of Clark and Devon, The Jackhammer Complex is comprised of three unique bar spaces ( dance, sports and leather ) with an attached shop ( Leather64Ten ) and a Fetish Themed Bed and Breakfast located two floors above the nightclub.

Previous musical acts appearing at The Jackhammer Complex have included local and national acts such as: Matt Alber, Tom Goss, Summer Osborne, Steven Leonard, Eric Himan, Doug Strahm, Baathhaus, The Joans, Brickwall Vultures, Bearhug, and Jinx Titanic & The Lady Killers
