Let's face it. Halloween is the one day where anyone can dress as anything and that is one exciting notion for queers!
This Halloween, though, let's turn our neighborhood blocks to red carpets and our Halloween parties to Oscar and Grammy parties. Celebrity costumes are only fun if you do it right and here's the who and here's how.
Nikki Minaj: If you're going to dare step into the Queen's shoes, you better do it right! First off, hair …c hoose a color, any color. A long blonde wig or a pink curly mane could give you this look. Nikki's vivacious shape is a must if you are attempting to pull of a Nikki Minaj costume. Hint: If ya ain't got it, go buy it! There are tons of body shapers and booty lifting garments on the market, go get one! Nikki is infamous for her loud outfits as she is her rap lyrics.
Janelle Monae: To know her is to understand that she's black and white … literally. She only brings together classic black-and-white pieces and has a very regal, elegant style. White button-down blouse, black suspenders and black trousers transforms you into the singer, but don't forget your flamboyant hairstyle, red lipstick and oxfords!
Anderson Cooper: Anderson Cooper is all about business, so you can't play with this costume! His salty hair and dreamy eyes are chores to mock, but with the right accessories, he can be done! A simple rinse is all you'll need, and try to match Anderson's gray pixiewell, more like whitethe best you can. For a costume, try a slick-looking suit jacket, with a minimalist tie to match. Anderson is simple, but always classy. His suits are always tailored perfectly, and his hairstyle is always in perfect place.
Laverne Cox: This hot transgender actress demands one hell of a costume. She is known for her diva style and character, and her most noticed look is that long brown hair, most times accented with blonde highlights. Be it in curls or bone straight, she wears it long, so go long. She has an amazing body and she wears fly dresses often to show it! Laverne requires sexy stilettos and nicely done makeup, usually soft with a killer contour. She mostly goes with a popping lip color to match her signature smile.
Young Ma: Young Ma has a hip-hop urban look that is fearless and unapologetic. The rapper wears her hair in about four individual braids that drape down the sides of her face and back. Her costume must include her signature baseball caps, usually turned to the back to complete her look. Young Ma is tatted up on both arms with another tattoo scripted across the front of her neck. Her look is thuggish, and her clothes are urban.
Adam Lambert: Adam has the goth look, but he isn't your ordinary emo. Adam pulls off incredible sex appeal with his slick hair styles, sometimes in a mohawk and other times slicked back with a part. We haven't seen eyeliner that perfectly illustrated since Prince, and his eyebrows are arched perfectly. To pull off an Adam Lambert costume, you'll need either a suit or a button-down shirt showing off some chest. Adam oftentimes rocks black fingernails, and with tats going up both arms. His beard is usually perfectly trimmed and cut lowan asset to his sexy styled haircuts.
Lady Gaga: Gaga is usually outrageous in her style, but there's usually a fashion motive behind her seemingly tacky looks. Gaga is known for that long blonde hair, sometimes accompanied by an outrageous headpiece, sometimes not. Her outfits are unpredictable, and to pull off a costume for Gaga takes work. A Gaga costume takes flamboyancy, go big: ruffles around the neck, huge jewelry and platform shoes. Or if you want to go minimalist Gaga, try a simple hairstyle with either a low bun or a long blonde wig. Her minimalist dresses are always classy, but still Gaga stylesequins, lace, rufflesbut not outrageous.
Ellen Degeneres: Ellen has a way of making simplicity look so signature. Her blonde pixie haircut and those blue eyes are the essentials to any Ellen Degeneres costume. That cut is Ellen, as well as her predictable yet forever evolving wardrobe of hers. She wears basic colors, in very simple styles. She's known for suits in navy blue, gray, black, beige and white. A costume including a button-down shirt underneath a cashmere sweater says that you're going for a simpler dressed Ellen. Loafers are a necessity, as Ellen is known for her flat footwear that embodies her tomboyish look.
Elton John: Elton is a musical genius and a fashion trendsetter, too. This Halloween, if you dare attempt to pull off an Elton John costume, you'll need to embrace bright colored suits, star-framed sunglasses, and a bright tie to get everyone's attention during trick or treating. Elton John was known for his flamboyance behind that piano and he wasn't afraid to flaunt it. His hair is short brown, but usually wild. The signature accessory is his big framed, colorful glasses with iridescent lenses and blinging sparkles.
