In honor of Women's History Month in March, the all-female Orion Ensemble will be "Celebrating Women Composers" of three centuries, four countries and four distinct styles.
Performances are March 4 at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church in Geneva, March 11 at Music Institute of Chicago's Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston and March 14 at Roosevelt University's Ganz Memorial Hall in Chicago.
Shows will cover the works of Stacy Garrop, Louise Farrenc, Phyllis Tate and Fanny Mendelssohn.
The Orion Ensemble consists of five musicians: Kathryne Pirtle (clarinet), Florentina Ramniceanu (violin), Diana Schmück (piano), Judy Stone (cello) and Jennifer Marlas (viola).
