A symposium on health needs and resources for LGBT veterans, active duty service members, families, friends and health care providers will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, 8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m. at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, Auditorium ( Bld. 9 ), 5000 S. 5th Ave., Hines, Illinois.
The keynote speaker will be Kristin Beck, the first openly transgender Navy SEAL, now a civil rights activist.
Learn about Veterans Administration services, LGBT health care, the impact of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and other policies on service members, and benefits available to LGBT Veterans.
