Buffalo Grove, IL —The growth of Oaklee's Family Guide, The Go-To-Guide for On-The-Go Parents, is proof that print media is still alive. This publication is celebrating its 13th year of providing more than one million Chicago-area families with a comprehensive listing of the region's events and activities.
The resource guide lists Chicago-area events and activities geared toward families as well as adults, including those geared toward the LGBT communities. See www.oakleesguide.com for more details and a digital copy of the guide.
"We are adding new advertisers and advertiser categories on a daily basis in response to reader demand," said Nancy Stevens, owner and founder of Oaklee's Family Guide.
The idea for the guide took shape in the 1990s, when Nancy gave up a career to stay home with her two young children. When she couldn't find a resource for family events in the area, she saw an opportunity and Oaklee's Family Guide was created.
Since the guide's debut, Nancy has provided insight to women business owners on how to start up their own company. She also was named as an Influential Woman in Business in 2008 and has won numerous awards as a result of the guide's success.
For 13 years, Oaklee's Family Guide's print and web publications have served the suburban parent market as trusted resources for family-focused events and activities as well as family-friendly businesses to meet every need. Oaklee's Family Guide includes activities, from park district programs and library events to musicals and kid's camps. Comprehensive listings, including holiday events, area festivals, farmers markets and party services, also are provided. In addition to utilizing the quarterly magazine, Chicagoans can easily source events by name, type, date and/or location on the Oaklee's Family Guide website at www.oakleesguide.com .
