Enlightening. Inspirational. Entertaining. OUTspoken! Storytelling celebrates its one-year anniversary on Tuesday, Aug. 4. This monthly night of LGBTQ story-telling is held at Sidetrack ( 3349 N Halsted ). Doors to the event open at 6PM, stories begin at 7.
Storytellers scheduled to appear are Tracy Baim, LeVan D. Hawkins, Archy Jamjun, Alexis Martinez, Jeffery Tomlinson, and Bea Cordelia. The night of storytelling and anniversary celebration will include a few special moments and surprises for the always-supportive, engaged audience. Kim Hunt Executive Director of Affinity Community Services and Art Johnston, Co-founder of Equality Illinois, serve as emcees for the event. The event is curated by David Fink, Co-founder of Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Michigan.
OUTspoken!'s first year included a feature spot in Lifeline Theater's Fillet of Solo, numerous shout-outs on WBEZ as an event not to be missed, and being named one of Daily Xtra Travel's "top Gay Events in Chicago".
OUTspoken! is a storytelling show presented at Sidetrack, 3349 North Halsted in Chicago. Storytellers identify as LBGTQ ( Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Transgendered, or Queer ) but audiences of all walks of life have found the nights of storytelling enlightening, inspirational and entertaining. And while all stories do not have sexuality or gender identity as their focus, all stories are told from the perspective of LGBTQ persons. OUTspoken occurs on the first Tuesday of every month from 6-9PM. Doors open at 6:00 with the stories beginning at 7:00. There is no charge for this event . Storytellers vary month to month, but all identify as LGBTQ.
