OUTmusic Jan. 19; nominees announced
The 9th OUTMusic Awards will take place Monday, Jan. 19, in New York City. Orange Is the New Black actress Lea DeLaria and singer Sir Ari Gold will co-host.
Nominees have been announced. Nods for Album of the Year went to We Will Know ( by Omar Thomas Large Ensemble ), Heartthrob ( by Tegan and Sara ), Well-Strung ( by Well-Strung ), Chapter 10 ( by Charice ) and Daze of Love ( by Karmen Butler ).
Single of the Year nominations went to "Forbidden Fruit" ( by Toya Delazy ), "I Was a Fool" ( by Tegan and Sara ), "The Other Side" ( by Monifah ), "Tell It To My Heart" ( by Jason Walker featuring Bimbo Jones ) and "Play My F**kn Record" ( by Sir Ari Gold ).
Steve Grand, a recent Windy City Times 30 Under 30 honoree, received a nomination for Best Rock Song for the breakthrough song "All American Boy."
Chicagoan Jess Godwin received two nods, for Best Alternative Song and Video of the Year for the song "Bleed."

Disney on Ice presents 'Frozen' Jan., Feb.
Feld Entertainment, Inc., is bringing the Oscar-winning animated feature film Disney's Frozen, to life, in its 34th Disney On Ice spectacular.
Disney on Ice will present "Frozen Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt" Jan. 21-26 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, and Jan. 28-Feb. 8 at Chicago's United Center.
In the event, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse take the audience through the magical story based in Arendelle, with special appearances by Disney princesses and favorite characters from Disney/Pixar's Toy Story and Finding Nemo and Disney's The Lion King.

Annie Lennox out with 'Nostalgia'
Blue Note Records has released Nostalgia, the seventh solo album from singer-songwriter Annie Lennox.

Dave Koz holiday
CD now out
Out gay saxophonist Dave Koz's latest CD The 25th of December, is out on Concord Records.
The album features duets with artists such as Johnny Mathis, Eric Benet, Gloria Estefan, Heather Headley, Richard Marx, Kenny G, BeBe Winans, India.Arie, Trombone Shorty, Jonathan Butler, Fantasia and Stevie Wonder.
Mathis is in an upbeat interpretation of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," one of his signature holiday tunes, and Estefan steps in for a reading of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" India.Arie is featured on "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm," while Fantasia steps up for a high-energy, gospel-style medley that includes "O Come All Ye Faithful," "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing."
Spandau Ballet releasing first single in almost 30 years
Spandau Ballet announced the release of its first single in the United States since the 1980s with "This Is the Love."
The song, produced by Trevor Horn, is available now on the band's new greatest-hits album, The Story...
Spandau Ballet also announced it will make its U.S. late-night television debut on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, Nov. 10, in Los Angeles.
Spandau became one of the most commercially successful bands of the decade, racking up 23 hit singles and spending a combined total of in excess of 500 weeks in the U.K. charts, achieving album sales of more than 25 million worldwide. Some of the act's hits include "Through the Barricades," "Gold" and "True."
College presenting'October Mourning'
North Central College will present October Mourning—a stage production based on Leslea Newman's book October Mourning: A Song for Matthew Shepard—on Jan. 8-11.
Student actors with direction by Carin Silkaitis, North Central College assistant professor of theater, will present six performances at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8-10, at 2 p.m. Jan. 10-11 and at 6 p.m. Jan. 11 in Madden Theatre at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville.
