For five years, the North Coast Music Festival has entertained crowds on five music stages in Union Park. Focused mainly on electronic dance music with some rock and rap thrown in, acts in 2014 that performed over the three-day Labor Day weekend included Bassnectar, Kid Cudi, Snoop Dogg, Little Dragon, Talib Kweli and Zeds Dead.
( Editor's note: Rolling Stone magazine reported that Kid Cudi collapsed in the photo pit during his hour-long set. While there was immediate confusion among the crowd, in a series of tweets following the performance, the rapper assured fans he was okay. )
Windy City Times talked with performers Montreal dance music duo Adventure Club before their set about working with outside-of-the-mainstream artists like Yuna and The Kite String Tangle on their EP Calling All Heroes. Adventure Club's Leighton James mentioned playing Coachella and even sat in the same chair as Beyonce.
Notable food vendors included Porkchop restaurant and Cheesie's Pub, who had lines down the food alleyway.
Record numbers ended with fans waving their hands in the air for Snoop.
Dozens of after-parties all over Chicago completed the picture of a diverse music venture that continues to be a success.
Visit www.northcoastfestival.com for eventual information about next year.
