A rally to mark National Period Day will take place Saturday, Oct. 19, 12-2 p.m., at Federal Plaza, 219 S. Dearborn St.
Organizations such as Planned Parenthood, The Chicago Period Project, She Votes Illinois, The U.N. Advocacy Team, Days for Girls and The DePaul Women's Center will be in attendance. Activists Mae Flores, Molly Pinta, Sonal Aggarwal, Maria Brenda, Lesle Honoré, Michelle Auch and Melissa Duprey will be featured speakers.
Advocates are demanding that local legislators join the conversation about menstrual equity, calling for a major actions: clean and healthy period products to be freely accessible in all schools, shelters and prisons.
