Oklahoma native Kristin Chenoweth has carved out a wide-ranging career that includes musicals, movies and television.
The Tony Award winner took Broadway by storm in productions like You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Wicked and, most recently, On the Twentieth Century last year.
She was also found on the big screen in 2015 in The Peanuts Movie, The Boy Next Door and Strange Magic. This year she headlined in the movie Hard Sell.
On television it was also a big year for Chenoweth ( also an Emmy winner ) last year with American Dad!, The Muppets and Descendants.
The spritely singer returns to Chicago once again June 20, and she answered a few questions via email.
Windy City Times: Hi, Kristin. In a nutshell, can you describe the show at the Symphony you have planned? You do a wide range in Chicago from formal at the Goodman Gala to country at the Chicago Theatre, so I wondered that you have up your sleeve this time.
Kristin Chenoweth: The show will be a mix of music, from musical theater to country to Don Henley.
WCT: What is your new favorite song to perform live?
KC: My favorite song to perform would have to be "Little Sparrow," by Dolly Parton.
WCT: Talk about reuniting with Idina Menzel [for the first time] in 12 years recently.
KC: It was such a great moment reuniting with Idina. Felt like I had come full circle.
WCT: How was filming Hard Sell, and what upcoming movies are planned?
KC: I loved filming Hard Sell because I loved the story between mother and son. Next up for me is voicing a character in the movie My Little Pony.
WCT: Future projects coming out?
KC: I am currently working on my album. I think this will be my personal favorite and I can't wait to share it.
The Symphony Center Presents Kristin Chenoweth will take place at 220 S. Michigan Ave. on Monday, June 20, at 7:30 p.m. Visit CSO.org or call 800-223-7114 for ticket information.
