NOW to convene Speak Truth to Power NOW in San Jose July 6-8

The National NOW Conference, the supreme governing body of the National Organization for Women, will convene the leaders of the women's rights movement in San Jose, California from July 6 to 8. The annual conference will focus on this year's theme: Speak Truth to Power NOW. Members and activists will gather to honor the young feminist activists and leaders of tomorrow, and feminists of all generations will celebrate the beginning of the end of women being silenced. Together they will continue to speak truth to power until the culture of accepting this violence and abuse of power comes to an end.

The event will feature workshops and plenary sessions focused on the following themes:

Women's Health

Sexual Harassment and Violence Against Women

Freedom from Gun Violence in Our Lives

Young Feminist Activism

Honorees are to include:

Gloria Allred, women's rights attorney - Lifetime Achievement Award

Jennifer Brea, independent documentary filmmaker - Mastrobuono Award

Ivy Bottini, pioneering lesbian feminist - Woman of Courage Award

Moriah Engdahl, 16-year-old gun reform activist - Young Feminist of Courage Award

Charlene Carruthers, Founding National Director, Black Youth Project 100 ( BYP100 ) - Woman of Action Award

Kathy Spillar, Executive Director, Feminist Majority Foundation - Woman of Impact Award

Speakers and Workshops will include representatives from:
