On Aug. 30-31, at 8 p.m., the Muslim Writers Collective will host a program at Steppenwolf Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St., with artists from multiple performative backgrounds.
In collaboration with Steppenwolf's LookOut Series, the two-night variety showcase ( theater, comedy, poetry, sketch and music ) will be based on the theme of empathy.
The Muslim Writers Collective is an initiative aimed at reclaiming control over the U.S. Muslim narrative and providing a safe space for current and aspiring writers. Through storytelling, creativity and culture, the members seek to incubate a vibrant literary tradition among its community.
