Men's accessories store The Tie Bar has opened a pop-up shop in Lincoln Park at 918 W. Armitage Ave.
The store celebrated its opened Oct. 23 with a closed "Tie the Knot" eventand an appearance by Jesse Tyler Ferguson ( from ABC's Modern Family ) and his husband, attorney Justin Mikita.
Among other things, the event featured a space where guests could get free shaves and haircuts. Kid Color served as DJ, spinning tunes that spanned from the '70s to the present day.
"Opening a physical retail space in Chicago is a natural evolution for the brand. For more than a decade, our company has been offering an exceptional online experience. Our pop-up gives shoppers the chance to touch and feel our products," said Michael Alter, CEO of The Tie Bar, in a statement.
Ferguson and Mikita head the organization Tie the Knot, which sells bowties to help fund the fight for marriage equality throughout the United States. The items sell for $25 at The Tie Bar; on Oct. 23, all the proceeds from sales of the items went to Tie the Knot.
The couple circulated throughout the space, chatting and posing with attendees. At one point, Ferguson took to the mic, pretending to give a haircut to one patron. The actor, among other things, also commented how the Chicago space was more impressive than one that opened in L.A.
The 3,200-square-foot store will offer neckties, bow ties, tie bars, pocket squares, socks and more. It will remain open through Jan. 4, 2015.
