Andersonville Midsommarfest returns for its 53rd year on June 8-10.
It will take place June 8 at 5-10 p.m. ( Summerdale to Catalpa along Clark Street ), and June 9-10 at 11 a.m.-19 p.m. ( Foster to Catalpa along Clark Street ).
Attendees will be able to dance around the Maypole, sample international food, participate in family-friendly activities, purchase a variety of items from vendors, and be entertained by musical acts and other performers.
As for said entertainers, they will include local '80s band 16 Candles, the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus, indie band Mister E Machine, the Chicago Spirit Brigade, marching band Mucca Pazza, cover group The Boy Band Night, mariachi band Cielito Lindo, Moose the DJ, the Lakeside Pride Latin Band, Laura Doherty and the Heartbeats, the Lucy Smith Jazz Trio, Dream Big Performing Arts and many more.
Also, the second annual Chicago Equality Rally will take place at the Balmoral Pride Stage, 5400 N. Clark St., on Sunday, June 10, at noon. The rally aims to unify people with a mission to make change towards equal treatment, protection, and access for all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or immigrant status.
There is a $10 suggested donation at the gate.
