2/25/14, Indianapolis Following a sold out 2013 event, Indy Pride, Inc., is pleased to announce that the 2014 installment of Girl Pride will take place at Talbott Street Nightclub, on Thursday, June 12, with very special guests. The night will feature a Queen of Electro, Luciana, and a rising star, the Grammy-nominated singer/author Mary Lambert.
"I wanted to provide a context of love and heart that's sort of my thing." Mary Lambert.
Lambert co-wrote and provided vocals for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' two-time Grammy-nominated same-sex equality anthem, "Same Love," which went on to sell over 2 million copies in the U.S. alone and peaked at number 11 on The Billboard Hot 100. Her musical style is often compared to Adele, Tori Amos, Bon Iver, and James Blake, with topics that run through her early childhood traumas: sexual abuse, body image, bipolar disorder, drug abuse, homosexuality and religion. But it was the revolutionary single, "Same Love", that allowed Mary's voice to reach millions through live performances on The MTV Video Music Awards, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, VH1, The Colbert Report, and of course very recently on The Grammys.
Her follow-up single, "She Keeps Me Warm," received over one million views in its first week and debuted at #2 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart. Her full album release is scheduled for spring of 2014, just in time for the Circle City IN Pride week of events. Poems written throughout her life were given textual breath when Lambert independently released the critically acclaimed 500 Tips for Fat Girls.
Despite the seemingly overnight success with "Same Love," Ms. Lambert is still a rarity: an openly gay artist with a major-label deal. Indy Pride, Inc. is proud to have this intersection of music and poetry for Girl Pride 2014.
"Live your life, every minute of it, never settle for second best." Luciana Caporaso
Luciana has taken that statement and turned it into a motto, a guideline with which she attacks life, love, and career. She is, without a doubt, a powerhouse, standing on the forefront of the Electro-House/-nuWave movement.
Her start as an artist began with Bodyrox and their chart-topping 2006 dance single "Yeah Yeah." From there, Luciana went on to be the "Feat." artist on many other dance hits: "I Wish I Would" with Martijn ten Velden; the double-platinum "I Like That" with Richard Vission & Static Revenger; "We Own The Night" with Tisto & Wolfgang Gartner; and "Guess What?" with Cazwell, among many others.
Since then she's continued to grace the tracks of A-list "Now" producers, like Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, and Fredde Le Grande.
Luciana's unique stage presence blends fiery attitude with her feisty, in-your-face, punk-grrl vocals for an explosive performances that will leave you a breathless.
