September 8, 2017 ( Los Angeles, CA ) Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Mary Lambert announces the Everybody Is A Babe Tour. The tour will kick off Oct. 21 in San Diego at the Casbah and on Nov. 10 is in Chicago at the Beat Kitchen. Tickets are on sale at www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/1527420 .
Artist Mal Blum will support the tour. Additionally, the tour will feature powerful spoken word artists such as Buddy Wakefield, Anis Mojgani, Dominique Christina, and Safia Elhillo. "I don't think I've ever been more excited about the transformative impact that these shows may have on not just my fans, but myself. From the music to the message, this entire show is about healing, community, and being able to dance like a fool in the absurd joy of living," says Lambert.
Earlier this year Mary Lambert released her first EP, entitled Bold. Describing the EP as "feel good queer-pop," Lambert wrote and self-produced three of Bold's seven tracks entirely on her own, and wrote two with hit songwriter-producer Toby Gad ( Beyoncé, Demi Lovato ) and Tobias Karlsson ( Adam Lambert, Max Martin ). You can watch the video for the single, "Know Your Name," here. The clip, which was directed by Erix Arocha, finds the cast duking it out over various games and culminates in an epic showdown with Lambert and Grey's Anatomy's Sara Ramirez over an air hockey table.
To finance the making of Bold, Lambert launched a Kickstarter campaign, which raised over $68K and was fully funded in eight hours. Five years ago, Lambert used Kickstarter to create her debut EP, Letters Don't Talk. Following that, she was nominated for two Grammy Awards ( for "Song of the Year" and "Album of The Year" ) for her contributions to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Same Love" ( and made history performing on the Grammy telecast with the duo and Madonna, while Queen Latifah memorably married 33 same-sex couples ). Lambert toured for three years, won an MTV Video Music Award, released an EP ( Welcome To The Age of My Body ) and a full-length album ( Heart On My Sleeve ), released a single, "Secrets," about mental illness that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Chart and was certified RIAA Gold, was honored as a chairperson for the Department of Health and Human Services for speaking about mental health. She also partnered with the National Park Service as a Centennial Ambassador and was featured in JC Penney's groundbreaking plus-size campaign, "Here I Am." This is Mary Lambert's first tour since parting with Capitol Records. "This show is the show I've always wanted to put on: Equal parts spoken word, stand-up, pop songs, and devastatingly sad ballads. It's gonna be a ride."
