Me sentí invadido. Lloraba desesperado sin comprender lo que pasaba. El agua calló en mi rostro mezclandose con mis lagrimas. Todo era confuso, creo que sentí miedo... lo dicen las fotos. Mi bautizo fue el primer encuentro con la religión católica de mi familia, luego me confirmaron, ingrese al colegio de monjas y más tarde probé por primera vez el cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo en mi primera comunión.

Aún recuerdo el colegio, como olvidar aquella mañana cuando la capilla fue hurtada por ratas moribundas que, en busca de comida, accedieron al impresionante contenedor de oro que guardaba cautelosamente varias hostias consagradas. La escuela entera fue sometida a un día completo de rezo y ayuno.

Mi colegio fue cómplice también de mis propios secretos. Yo era diferente y no sabia porque, nadie me dio a escoger. Me espantaba escuchar a la madre Martha decir: 'El infierno es para los niños que no se comportan como niños'. En casa, lo escuche de mamá, mientras hablaba con sus amigas: ¿Se imaginan? Un niño 'rarito', que ¡salación!.

Mi refugio fueron por tanto las noches calladas, las mañanas de angustia y las conversaciones secretas con la única familia que parecía entenderme en aquel entonces: La divina. Les imploraba cambiar, ser 'normal'. Ahora han pasado los años y muchas cosas me hicieron comprender que yo estaba bien, los otros están mal.

En la actualidad mi vida religiosa ya no existe como antes, aún esta la fe pero, se acabaron los rezos, las letanías. Me canse de serle fiel a una religión que me hacia sentir extraño. Me fastidie de los sermones que en cada iglesia visitada parecían mas bien lavados cerebrales.

No me lo tomes a mal pero, la verdad es que no me sentía identificado con ellos. Imaginate, en una de las visitas del Papa Juan Pablo II a México hice hasta lo imposible para recibir su bendición de cerca, dormí a la luz de la luna bajo las estrellas de techo, soportando el frío y, años mas tarde, incluso recientemente tuve noticias de ese mismo Papa, eran sus últimas declaraciones contra la homosexualidad, en las que se invitaba a todo gobierno a evitar leyes y beneficios en favor de la comunidad GLBT. El resultado en la sociedad: fobia, odio y rechazo.

Muchos religiosos se preocupan más por los que aún no nacen que por los olvidados que ya respiran. También niegan el uso del condón y las campañas para prevenir el VIH/SIDA; se invierten millones en la abstinencia haciendo a un lado la verdadera educación sexual, -la que puede prevenir de por vida-.

Jurar amor eterno ante el altar puede resultar cuestionable. Mi madre vive angustiada creyendo que Dios esta disgustado con ella por haber dejado la vida de abuso que llevaba al lado de mi padre biológico y por haberse enamorado nuevamente de otro hombre. Yo le digo que es mi ídola y no me cree. Religiones y gobiernos se esmeran en preservar el matrimonio como símbolo primario de lo que llamamos civilización; una civilización que irónicamente se aterra del amor que va más allá del cuadro heterosexual pero que parece consentir la violencia y los abusos de poder.

El fanatismo de la iglesia en particular puede ser temible. Ojalá me entiendas, no intento quebrantar los buenos valores, solo quiero exponer el cómo las ideologías nos hacen ver a muchos como malignos cuando simplemente, somos seres humanos, como cualquier otro.
