Lorde, Rustin & Bates launches; Galloway named managing director

Chicago, IllinoisToday, the Board of Directors announced the launch of Lorde, Rustin & Bates ( LRB ), a systemic and structural level change agent that centers LGBTQ communities of color for organizational development, advocacy and activism, improving the quality of life. Formerly, No Wire Hangers, Inc. Lorde, Rustin & Bates has expanded its focus to include civic engagement activities by building a strong base of LGBTQ equality voters of color and wielding that power to affect change; providing organizational development through capacity building and technical assistance services for institutions who serve LGBTQ communities of color that seek to offer culturally appropriate services; incubating one time community based activities, not for profit organizations and new business ideas and promoting social justice through arts and cultural programming through its flagship project Fahrenheit Chicago.
Today black and latinx LGBTQ people have a place to turn when facing civil rights concerns within Illinois and Missouri," stated Noel Green, Board Chairman. "I know that people of color, particularly in our states have traditionally felt underrepresented, I am so happy that Lorde, Rustin & Bates iset to open to fulfill this tremendous gap burdening our community for far too long." continued Chairman Green.
Anthony Galloway, former Director of Civic Engagement of Equality Illinois has been appointed the official Founder and Managing Director of Lorde, Rustin & Bates. This role is the most senior position and will officially begin on July 1, 2020. "Anthony has served the LGBTQ community across the Midwest for nearly 20 years and has done so very well. He is ready to take on this role and has been championing such an institution for many years. I am so proud to see this dream come into reality" stated national entertainer, activist, and Chicagoan Otis Mack. "We are building a grassroots community based campaign that will address systemic and structural racism through organizing and capacity building assistance led by those who have traditionally faced this burden." stated Anthony Charles Galloway. The board of directors will convene its first meeting on Sunday, April 5 and will host a community launch event Monday, April 6 at Connect+ Gallery in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. The event will feature a short panel discussion led by Noel Green, board chairman and Maxx Boykin, LRB board member and national community organizer for Black AIDS Institute.
Lorde, Rustin & Bates organizational launch, membership kick-off and press event will take placeMonday, April 6, 7-9 p.m. at the Connect+ Gallery, 1520 East Harper Court, Chicago, Illinois.
