Stevie Edwards, a local fashion designer, is accused of committing financial fraudand he allegedly used the identity of Eugene Rivers, a jailed killer who is reportedly Edwards' boyfriend, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Rivers is serving almost 25 years in prison for killing and raping an Englewood woman in 1998. Edwards, 44, allegedly used Rivers' identity to take out $35,000 as a cash advance for his I Luv Stevie boutique, 1932 S. Wabash. A federal complaint filed recently alleged that Edwards, who is already under supervison for two fraud convictions, has not repaid the money.
Edwards' MySpace profile simply states that he is "in a relationship." However, he has not visited his profile since Oct. 2, 2009.
Windy City Times attempted to contact Edwards, but he had not responded by the press deadline.
