Lightfoot involves Ted Cruz in Chicago
2019-09-10

After engaging in a Twitter feud with U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz ( R-Texas ), Mayor Lori Lightfoot has invited him to pay a visit to Chicago's South and West sides, The Chicago Tribune reported.

Last week, Cruz initially posted "Gun control doesn't work. Look at Chicago. Disarming law-abiding citizens isn't the answer." Lightfoot responded by criticizing Cruz and "coward Republicans," and told him to "Keep our name out of your mouth."

Over the weekend, Lightfoot wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post defending Chicago, repeating some of the arguments she posted and making the initial invitation to Cruz to come to Chicago.

As of Sept. 9, Cruz had not responded to Lightfoot's invitation.
