Legacy Live Series to honor Fr. Mychal Judge, saint of 9/11
From a press release

On September 11, 2001 the future changed forever. As the world watched in horror, over 3000 Americans lost their lives in the single deadliest terrorist attack of all time. What few knew was that one man — FR. MYCHAL JUDGE — a modest Chaplain serving the firefighters of Engine 1-Ladder 24 — was among the first responders to arrive on the scene. An openly gay Franciscan Friar — and beloved New York social justice warrior — Fr. Judge refused to seek shelter with the city's elected officials, choosing instead "to stay with his men." Fr. Judge was killed by falling debris after administering the Last Rites to a fallen firefighter. Join us on Sunday September 11 when we remember "Victim 0001" on the 15th Anniversary of the World Trade Center terrorist attack with a ceremony at his Legacy Walk bronze memorial ( 3540 N. Halsted ), followed by a screening of the award-winning documentary "The Saint of 9/11" at Lakeview Presbyterian Church ( 716 W. Addison ). This event is presented in cooperation with our Presenting Partners Dignity/Chicago and AGLO ( Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach ).
