The Victory Fund, the only national Political Action Committee dedicated to electing LGBTQ people to all levels of government announced their endorsement of Democratic nominee for Cook County Commissioner Kevin B. Morrison, who is running against the chair of the Illinois Republican Party 15th District Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider.
"We are pleased to endorse Kevin B. Morrison for Cook County Commissioner," said Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ Victory Fund. "Kevin is running a history-making race as the first openly LGBTQ person running for Cook County Commissioner — which is especially significant given he's running against Trump ally Tim Schneider. We are confident that as Cook County Commissioner, Kevin will be a strong voice for the LGBTQ community and for all his constituents."
Kevin B. Morrison will make history as the first openly LGBTQ person to serve on the Cook County board. He is running against the embattled chair of the Illinois Republican Party 15th District Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider. Schneider is an ally of President Trump and Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, who seek to destroy working families and the middle-class. His numerous conflicts of interests have put him at odds and out of touch with the 15th district.
"It wasn't too long ago that the LGBTQ community was unable to run as open candidates so the endorsement of the Victory Fund is of special significance to me. As many members of the LGBTQ community, growing up I was subjected to bullying and discrimination for simply being gay. Even though we have evolved as a society, our rights are constantly under attack by Republicans like my opponent and President Trump," said Kevin B. Morrison. "I stand proud of my community and honor the work of the Victory Fund and those who paved the road so I can proudly run as an openly gay man."
