Actor/ comedian Hal Sparks returns to Chicago for a five- show engagement at Mayne Stage. Sparks began his professional career in Chicago as a member of the famed Second City. Sparks went on to host the Emmy-award winning "Talk Soup" on E! Entertainment Television, winning rave reviews from fans and critics alike. For five seasons, he co-starred as Michael Novotny on the hit Showtime series, "Queer As Folk," based on the controversial and critically acclaimed British series. Sparks is one of the star commentators of the VH1 hit pop culture series, "I Love The 90's," "I Love The 80's," "The 80's Strike Back, ""I Love The 70's" and "I Love the New Millennium." Sparks stars in standup Showtime special "Charmageddon" this June. Sparks currently stars in the #1 Disney XD show, "Lab Rats."

This collaborative endeavor has a delectable line-up of music and dance numbers including Indian, Flamenco and Arabic beats that promises to be a connoisseur's delight. The evening will feature original acoustic instruments - Arabic Oud, Spanish Flamenco Guitar, Senegal Drums, Jazz guitar, Indian Veena, Mridangam, Tabla, Ghatam, and Latin drums. The idea of the program is to take the original art forms representing multiple regions of the world and present in a refreshing light to a global audience - on one stage to one people, to make one community. Come and show your support to this extraordinarily talented group of artists who passionately believe in creating lively world music that will keep you riveted. The evening will begin with a live interview and Q&A by Catalina Maria Johnson. Catalina Maria Johnson is the host and producer of the radio program/podcast Beat Latino, as well as feature writer for Revista Contratiempo, Arte y Vida and Gozamos. Catalina also contributes features on the Latino arts to WBEZ (Chicago Public Media).
