On Nov. 4, 70 judges will be up for retention, meaning voters can decide whether or not a judge will stay on the bench for another term.

While most judges were recommended for retention, not all were. For example, the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago rated all judicial candidates and those up for retention. LAGBAC does NOT recommend the following judges to be retained: Janet Brosnahan, Rodolfo Garcia, Shelli Williams Hayes, Venessa Hopkins, Casandra Lewis, Carol Pearce McCarthy, Edward Pietrucha, James Riley and Jane Louise Stuart.
The Chicago Bar Association also does NOT recommend the following judges to be retained: Evelyn Clay, Venessa Hopkins, Anthony Lynn Burrell and Casandra Lewis.
Several organizations also released endorsement lists of judges up for retention.
Personal PAC endorsed these judges for retention: Michael Gallagher, Sebastian Patti, Gerald Bender, Barbara McDonald, James Rhodes and Eileen Mary Brewer.
Independent Voters of Illinois Independent Precint Organization endorsed these judges for retention: Evelyn Clay, Thomas Flannagan, James Flannery Jr., John Fleming, Themis Karnezis, Kathleen Kennedy, Michele Francene Lowrance, Barbara McDonald, Lewis Michael Nixon, Sebastian Patti, James Rhodes, David Sterba, Kenneth Wasas and Gregory Wojkowski.
