A GLBT photography Exhibit for Pride Month debuts at Bridgeport Art Center's HumanThread Gallery, 1200 W. 35th St. June 21st; 6-10 p.m. A collection of 50+ photographs by Jerry Pritikin aka "Bleacher Preacher", who turned 76 in January, covers two historic eras; San Francisco's volatile 1970s gay rights movement and a rare collection of photos showing Wrigley Field in the 80s before lights were installed. He calls his show, Spirit of 76, a time capsule of Jerry Pritikin's Images of When Then Was Now.
Pritikin, a legendary Cubs fan and pioneer in the early gay rights movement, has been chronicled in numerous national publications for 50 years. He was awarded Chicago Cubs Die-Hard Fan Hall of Fame in 1996 and 2012 Chicago Senior Citizen Hall of Fame for contributing to LGBT Community Programs throughout the United States. "Looking back, the 1970s were without a doubt my favorite decade and these images seem to have a history all on their own, which paved a way to NOW", Pritikin states.
