Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson made two recent hometown Chicago appearances—first at Weight Watchers on the South Side and then at Barnes & Noble in Skokie.

She was promoting her new book, I Got This, where she describes her rise to fame on television's American Idol and her major weight loss. The Academy and Grammy Award winner received gift baskets and mounds of praise from her fans, then signed copies of her memoir.
