About 100 people attended a luxury wedding presentation June 5 at The James Chicago hotel to celebrate the enactment of marriage equality in Illinois. Sinisa Srdic, director of special events at The James Chicago, and Frank Andonoplas of Frank Event Design hosted the event.
Attendees noshed on hors d'oeuvres from David Burke's Primehouse while perusing the wares from a variety of Chicago's premiere wedding vendors and industry experts.
"We've always been a hotel that has welcomed the LGBT community and we felt that with the passage of marriage equality we wanted to let everyone in the LGBT community know that The James Chicago is a wonderful place to get married," said Srdic. "If you decide to come here to get married you will feel welcome and receive great customer service."
"I'm a wedding consultant and have been for about 20 years and I've known Sinisa for a long time. We decided that we would celebrate marriage equality in Illinois by putting on this event. We've invited couples that are recently engaged to meet some wonderful vendors that can assist them in planning their wedding," said Andonoplas.
Vendors in attendance included Frank Event Design ( wedding planner ), Laura Daluga ( certified floral designer and The James Hotel manager and lead designer ), Rick Aguilar Studios ( photos ), Mira Couture ( wedding attire ), Tipsycakes and More, Elizabeth Grace ( stationary and wedding invitations ), Cort ( event furnishings ), O'Dea Entertainment ( DJ services ), and Christy Swain Beauty ( skincare and makeup artistry ). Each of the invited vendors has worked with The James Chicago in some capacity in the past.
Also, Tipsycakes gave out samples of its rainbow-themed wedding cake. O'Dea Entertainment provided the music for the evening.
