This July, 215 Ink will release Flutter, Volume Two: Don't Let Me Die Nervous, the latest in the indie LGBTQ graphic novel series by Jennie Wood and Jeff McComsey. Flutter is about a girl who shape-shifts into a boy to get her dream girl. Over the course of the series, she learns that pretending to be someone she's not has consequences and being a guy has its own difficulties.
Ahead of Flutter, Volume Two's release, a Flutter Kickstarter is going on now through May 12. The goal of this Kickstarter is to raise funds to print enough copies of the 100+ page, full color Flutter Vol. 1 & 2 graphic novels so that we can work with a distributor to get them into comic shops across the country.
The Kickstarter link can be found here. Rewards include original Flutter art, print copies of Flutter, Vol. 1 & 2, and other books by Wood and McComsey. Wood is also offering a version of the comic and graphic novel writing class that she teaches at Grub Street, Boston's independent writing center.
All of the money raised by this Kickstarter will go towards printing copies of Flutter, Volume 1 & 2. Any money over the initial goal will go toward printing more Flutter. Comics and graphic novels are more popular than ever. The success of mainstream books such as Young Avengers and Ms. Marvel proves that the demand for diverse storytelling is growing. Making Flutter available for anyone who needs or wants to read it is our goal.
