Brock Mettz, always knew he wanted to be an interior designer, and gets to live out his lifelong dream everyday as the owner and senior designer at Brock Mettz Design.
Growing up in a family that frequently moved, Mettz quickly became fascinated by his many opportunities to create different spaces and find and love the art in doing so. When he was 7 years old, he got to pick the wallpaper and new paint color for his bedroom; this is when he believes it all began.
He said that his passion grew from the way space can be utilized and can affect a mood with color, lighting and texture. Mettz fostered his interest at University of Texas and continued his study at an internship in Manhattan.
His favorite part about his job is the variety and creativity it brings to his life. For Mettz, each day is different, whether he is meeting with a contractor, or discussing creative options with a client.
"Interior design is such a left-and right-brained field," Mettz said, and this is precisely why he is so drawn to it.
He also emphasized his love for getting to know his clients and the people who will live in the spaces he creates. Finding solutions and building something that will excite his clients is what he enjoys.
"I like being the sole creator of something, and making something out of nothing," Mettz said.
