Howard Brown Health unveiled interactive TRUE LOVE artwork at a community open house at its Rogers Park clinic on July 21.
The installation includes the words "TRUE LOVE" with the word "TRUE" as flat vibrantly colored decals and the word "LOVE" as transparent three-dimensional acrylic boxes on top.
In addition to the installation, there are brightly colored note cards right at the front desk so that patients may fill them out and write something related to something they love about themselves, someone else or even their community, The clear acrylic boxes serve as repositories for patients who choose to fill out the cards, so as to build on others' positivity.
"I love the idea that the word "love" over time fills with color and positivity so it starts as this empty vessel but then builds a community over time too," said Bob Faust, the artist behind the installation. He added that part of the goal for this project was to create something that radiated good will and diminished any anxiety upon entering.
TRUE LOVE will also have installations at other Howard Brown Health locations as well as Brown Elephant stores, encouraging people to think about what "true love" means to them.
