FROM A PRESS RELEASE:
April 8, 2010
Chicago, Illinois
Michael C. Cook, President and CEO of Howard Brown Health Center ( "Howard Brown" ) , announced today that he has terminated his Employment Agreement and his employment with Howard Brown, pursuant to his contractual right to do so under the terms of his Agreement.
He cited internal disagreements about ongoing responsibilities and duties as the basis for his decision to exercise his right to sever his employment relationship with the agency, but stressed his continued support for Howard Brown and the essential work it does in the community.
Cook said: "Howard Brown's work in the community is essential and it will continue regardless of a change in leadership. The thousands of people served by the agency every year need us and I know that Howard Brown will continue to be there for them."
Cook said further: "I have loved my work at Howard Brown and will look back on my days there as among the happiest and most fulfilling of my life. The staff at Howard Brown is the finest in the nation. We accomplished much together during my tenure. We reconnected with our community, strengthened our programs, and now serve more people than ever before. We built a comprehensive program that makes us a national leader and an inspiration for others. While there remains much more to be done, so much has been accomplished and I am proud to have played a role in it.
I will now turn my attention for a brief period to personal family matters that have been taking more and more of my time in recent months, but in the near future I will again pursue my interests in LGBT and other progressive causes. And, of course, I will always support Howard Brown and its important work."
