Horizons Community Services elected a new board of directors the week of Gay and Lesbian Pride, and introduced a strategic plan for the agency.
The annual meeting was held adjacent to the planned new home of the city's community center, a project spearheaded by Horizons.
The agency said goodbye to Board Chairperson Dave Helverson and Vice Chair Ann Perkins, and elected a new board including chairman Patrick Sheahan and President ( a new post ) Denise Foy. Helverson will stay on as treasurer, and Thomas Ford was elected secretary.
New board members elected were Charles Boesel, David Kulawiak and Mary Mittler. Renewing board members were Robert Bell, Vernita Gray, Andrea Hamblin, Thomas Klein and Sheahan.
New members of the Horizons Community Leadership Council were also introduced at the annual meeting, including R. Sue Connolly, Rashad Burgess, Bill Greaves, and Thom Dombkowski.
Volunteer of the Year for Horizons was Dave Hopkins. Other Volunteer award recipients were: Steven Alter, James Carter, Robert Ex, Herb Fisher, Robert Hartke, Jim Johnson, Jack Kelly, Amber Miller, Carl Radford and Elizabeth Sprague.
