The City has issued a heat advisory for Sunday, July 17, 2011 through most of this week. Please remember to check on your neighbors that are senior, disabled, or at risk individuals and call 911 if there is a heat emergency. If you do not have access to air-conditioning please seek out a cooling center (such as any police station or library), or call for assistance. Cooling centers in the 48th Ward are located at 4740 N. Sheridan Road (open 9:00am-5:00pm) and at the Broadway Armory at 5917 N. Broadway (open Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm). Drink plenty of water and remember to keep pets hydrated and indoors in the cool air during the extreme heat. Save strenuous activities for early morning or later in the evening when it is cooler. Wear loose-fitting, comfortable and/or moisture-wicking clothing to help keep you cool. If you or anyone you come in contact with experiences any of the following symptoms seek medical treatment immediately as you might be in danger of a heat-related illness such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion or heat stroke, which is extremely dangerous:
- an extremely high body temperature (above 103)

- Rapid, strong pulse
