Hash House combines menus; Golden Globes special

—Hash House A Go Go, 1212 N. State Pkwy., now has a singular all-day and all-night brunch menu featuring its take on farm food that will be served at the restaurant from open to close each day. Items including flapjacks, burgers and the famous sage fried chicken and waffles have been condensed into one brunch menu. See www.hashhouseagogo.com/chicago.

—ShowPlace ICON Theatre, 150 W. Roosevelt Rd., is having Golden Globes cocktails Jan. 6-12; items include the "Cointreau-versial Winner" ( Cointreau, cranberry, lime and Sprite ) and "Red Carpet Fizz" ( OR-G Vodka, grenadine and prosecco ) for $12 each. Also, guests can catch the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards Sunday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. in the lobby lounge. Call 312-564-2104.

—Also, Showplace will mark National Popcorn Day Jan. 6-19 with its Lobby Lounge Cheddar Bacon Popcorn for $6 each. Extras members will receive half-price on the popcorn ( $3 each, plus tax ).

—Tanta, 118 W. Grand Ave., is teaming with One Hope United to gather gifts for local children in need Sunday, Jan. 5-Thursday, Jan. 9, in honor of Three Wise Men Day ( or Three Kings Day ), which is Jan. 6. Tanta is asking guests to bring in an unwrapped children's gift and in exchange they will receive a complimentary special dish: grilled sea scallops served on top of organic quinoa and beet salad, with a cream passion fruit sauce.

—Bistronomic, 840 N. Wabash Ave., will celebrate the Fete des Rois on Jan. 6. ( It's a French tradition that commemorates the arrival of the three kings ,and involves the serving of a frangipane-filled tart known as the "galette des rois," or the King's Cake. ) Large enough to feed up to eight people, a portion of the galette will cost $8 per person or $21 per person with a glass of sparkling wine. —On Elvis Presley's birthday ( Jan. 8 ), guests at Kanela Breakfast Club—located in Old Town and Lakeview—can enjoy Kanela's take on Presley's favorite food ( fried peanut butter and banana sandwich ) with a specialty banana and peanut butter smoothie for $6 each. See www.kanelacafe.com .

—American Junkie, 15 W. Illinois St., is giving customers a chance to win a pair of Blackhawks tickets. Starting Jan. 2, during each game, every customer who wears Blackhawks gear while watching will be entered to win. Two drawings for the Blackhawks tickets will be held Jan. 14 and 29.

—The Boarding House owner Alpana Singh will accept the 2013 Sommelier of the Year Wine Star Award from Wine Enthusiast magazine in New York City on Jan. 27, 2014. People.com has reported on celebrity sightings and ABC's new TV series Betrayal has filmed multiple episodes at the four-story restaurant.

—"Chicago's Best WingFest" will take place Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at the Bailey Auditorium, 1340 W. Washington St., 1-5 p.m. The second block of tickets will go on sale Jan. 2 and the last block on Jan. 22. Tickets ( $30-$65 ) may be purchased directly at www.WingFest.net, and attendees must be at least 21.

—Italian restaurant Azzurra, 1467 N. Milwaukee Ave., features several signature dishes. Among them are crispy Brussels sprout leaves with pecorino ( $5 ); grilled octopus with potatoes, red onion, chilis, lemon and olive oil ( $11 ); orecchiette pasta with Italian sausage, rapini, garlic and pecorino ( $13 ); and Chianti-braised beef short rib with Brussels sprouts, pancetta and soft polenta ( $19 ). —The Gallow's Pole—a sandwich at Leadbelly, 5739 W. Irving Park Rd.—made Thrillist's list of the best burgers of 2013. It's a ground beef and pork belly burger with caramelized mushrooms and onions, smashed taters, Swiss cheese,and bearnaise sauce, all on a house-baked sesame seed bun. The Sword ( at Kuma's Corner, 2900 W. Belmont Ave. ) also made the list: It's a patty with jalapeno aioli, cactus salsa, queso fresco and a beer-battered tamale. The Unholy Mole ( at Fischman's Wagyu Wagon; www.thewagyuwagon.com ) and The Dryhop Burger ( at Dryhop Brewers, 3155 N. Broadway ) are other local concoctions that rounded out the list.

—Municipal Bar + Dining Company, 216 W. Ohio St., has announced Donald Penza as executive chef. New menu highlights include Philly cheese steak egg rolls, lobster rolls, grilled skirt steak, salmon and pork loin. See www.municipalbar.com .

—The casual Italian eatery Cibo Racconto, located in Rosemont ( near O'Hare and the Allstate Arena ), offers classic and unique dishes, all for $9.99 or less. Items include the porchetta sandwich ( $7.99 ); lumache arrosto ( $8.99 ), snail-shaped pasta topped with tomato sauce, ricotta cheese, roasted red peppers and grilled Italian sausage; and the panizza ( $5.99-$6.99 ), a panini-pizza hybrid.
