A record 366 businesses earned the Human Rights Campaign's latest Corporate Equality Index's ( CEI's ) top score of 100 percent, according to a press release.
Those earning a perfect score include newcomers like Facebook and Yelp, as well as fixtures such as Apple, Xerox and other companies that have been leaders in LGBT equality in the workplace since the survey began in 2002.
Among other findings is that one-third of Fortune 500 companies now offer trans-inclusive health care, up from zero in 2002 when the CEI was first published; and that gender identity is now part of non-discrimination policies at 66 percent of Fortune 500 companies, up from just 3 percent in 2002.
In total, 781 companies were officially rated in the 2015 CEI.
Regarding Illinois businesses, those that earned perfect scores include A.T. Kearney Inc., Aon Corp., Astellas Pharma US Inc., Baker & McKenzie LLP, Barilla America Inc., BMO Bankcorp Inc., Boeing Co., Chapman and Cutler LLP, Discover Financial Services, Exelon Corp., Faegre Baker Daniels, Groupon Inc., HERE North America LLC, Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, Huron Consulting Group Inc. and Hyatt Hotels Corp.
Others include Jenner & Block LLP, JLL, Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Kraft Foods Group Inc., Leo Burnett Company Inc., Mayer Brown LLP, McDermott Will & Emery LLP, MillerCoors LLC, Navigant Consulting Inc., Northern Trust Corp., Orbitz Worldwide Inc., Schiff Hardin LLP, Sears Holdings Corp., Seyfarth Shaw LLP, Sidley Austin LLP, Starcom MediaVest Group, United Airlines, W.W. Grainger Inc., Walgreen Co and Winston & Strawn LLP.
Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions Inc. was at the bottom of the list of surveyed Illinois business with a score of 30.
The CEI rates companies and top law firms on detailed criteria falling under five broad categories: non-discrimination policies; employment benefits; demonstrated organizational competency and accountability around LGBT diversity and inclusion; public commitment to LGBT equality; and responsible citizenship.
