WASHINGTON — The Human Rights Campaign has announced the endorsement of Rep. Brad Schneider for re-election to the U.S. House in Illinois' 10th district in the North suburbs of Chicago.
HRC said Schneider has a stellar record on LGBT equality in contrast to his opponent, former Congressman Bob Dold, who opposes marriage equality and has a history of taking anti-equality stances.
"In his time in Congress, Brad Schneider has been a leader and a strong advocate for equality," said Tom O'Donnell, HRC Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs. "As the nation moves rapidly to embrace full LGBT equality, Brad Schneider's voice on Capitol Hill will echo those of his fair-minded constituents and Americans across the country."
Schneider is a strong supporter of LGBT equality, including marriage equality. He supports the Respect for Marriage Act ( RMA ) which would repeal the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act ( DOMA ) in its entirety. He also supports the Employment Non-Discrimination Act ( ENDA ).
