Groups call for marriage rally in Springfield Friday
From a press release

Lambda Legal, ACLU of Illinois, Equality Illinois have put out a call for a marriage equality rally in Springfield:

The release reads:

URGENT: Meet at the Equality Illinois office (3318 N Halsted) in Chicago tomorrow (Friday) morning at 7:30 for free buses to our marriage equality rally in Springfield!

Just a few hours ago, we emailed with an urgent message to call Speaker Madigan and ask him to schedule a vote on the marriage bill now.

Hundreds of calls have come into Springfield, but no vote has been scheduled. So here's what's next:

We need you to join us for an urgent rally at the State House in Springfield tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. Together, we'll show the Speaker — and all our representatives — that we want a vote taken on the marriage equality bill before the House adjourns at the end of the day tomorrow.

Get the details and join us tomorrow. We need you now more than ever.

Everything comes down to what happens before the end of the day tomorrow. If a vote isn't scheduled, we don't win, and thousands of loving couples will continue being denied the protection and security they need and deserve.

It's all coming down to the wire and we have to keep pushing. If we can gather hundreds, thousands of Illinoisans together for a rally in Springfield tomorrow, we'll send a powerful message to our representatives.

Can we count on you to be there? We'll be carpooling from Chicago at 7:30 a.m. — so meet up at the Equality Illinois office at 3318 N Halsted Street to gather up and help us make history.

What: Urgent Rally to Pass Marriage Equality

When: Friday, May 31, 11:00 a.m.

Where: Illinois State Capitol Rotunda

Meet at the Equality Illinois office in Chicago (338 N. Halsted St) at 7:30 for free buses to Springfield!

Click www.facebook.com/events/482157535194624 to let us know you're coming — and invite your friends to be there, too.

We only have a few hours left to make history. It's time to do everything we can to win.

Thank you,

Jim Bennett, Lambda Legal

Ed Yohnka, ACLU of Illinois

Bernard Cherkasov, Equality Illinois

P.S. Get to Springfield any way you can. Ride a free bus with us or catch the 7:00 a.m. train from Chicago Union Station. Just click www.amtrak.com/home to buy a ticket.
