Boystown Walking Touran information-packed queer and femme-friendly 2 hour walking tour of the Boystown neighborhood, is planned for July 10 from 6-8 p.m. The tour is offered by tour company Chicago for Chicagoans.
The event will feature Andie Mckenzie Meadows, a queer femme activist, Boystown historian and photographer who will contribute her femme-focused and queer-inclusive perspective on the history of the first officially designated gay neighborhood in the U.S.
Beginning at the Belmont Red/Brown Line stop, the Boystown tour will cover the history, architecture and landmarks of one of Chicago's loudest and most colorful neighborhoods. The afternoon will end with a meal at Nookie's Tree and an after-party at The Closet.
Chicago for Chicagoans was founded by Patti Swanson as an initiative to familiarize local Chicagoans with the rich history of their own neighborhoods. To maintain accessibility to the community, the tour company exists as a "pay-what-you-can" tour service and welcomes anyone interested in learning about Chicago neighborhoods.
