Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Affairs announced its lineup for the Millennium Park Summer Film Series that will take place every Tuesday on June 5-Aug. 21, with each screening starting at 6:30 p.m.
The Gene Siskel Film Center's Black Harvest Film Festival was chosen as one of 14 of more than 40 annual film festivals presented citywide to be included in this year's Millennium Park Summer Film Series. The movie representing Black Harvest will be the Oscar-winner for Best ScreenplayGet Outto be shown July 24.
Some of the other movies that are part of this year's series include the John Waters film Hairspray ( June 5 ), Mad Max: Fury Road ( June 12 ), Groundhog Day ( June 26 ), an intriguing double feature of Wall-E and Crash ( July 31 ), Coco ( Aug. 14 ) and Slumdog Millionaire ( Aug. 21 ).

CAKE Expo on
June 2-3 at Center
The Chicago Alternative Comics Expo ( CAKE )a weekend-long celebration of independent comicswill take place June 2-3 at Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted St.
The event is free to enter, and will take place 11 a.m.-6 p.m. each day. Special guests will include Tony Breed, Nicole Hollander, Audrey Niffenegger, Eddie Campbell, Jim Woodring, Bianca Xunise, Fiona Smyth and more.
Also, on June 2, there will be an after-party at GMan Tavern, 3740 N. Clark St., 8-11 p.m. In addition, on Friday, June 1, Quimby's, 1854 W. North Ave., will host a kickoff event at 7 p.m. that will spotlight the Midwestern comics press Uncivilized Books.
Featuring comics for sale, workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions and more, CAKE aims to foster community and dialogue amongst independent artists, small presses, publishers and readers.
