Gerber Hart Library and Archives will host a Pride Month Open House and Public Meeting on Wednesday, June 18 at 7 pm. The public is invited to drop by and tour the new location at 6500 N Clark Street and to learn more about recent developments at the library. The program will include reports on facilities improvements, volunteer efforts, as well as library and archives management. A question and answer session will follow.

Board President Carrie Barnett says, "2014 marks Gerber Hart's 33rd year serving Chicago and the Midwest's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. This Pride Month Open House is part of our commitment to increased transparency and accountability. An ongoing discussion with the community we serve is critical to the ongoing health of the organization. We're looking forward to reporting on our progress and hearing feedback from all who attend. Please drop by, meet some new friends and learn more about our plans for the future."

Gerber/Hart Library and Archives was founded in 1981 to be a depository for the records of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender ( LGBT ) individuals and organizations, and for other resources bearing upon their lives and experiences in American society. Gerber/Hart Library and Archives has since grown into being the Midwest's largest LGBT circulating library with over 14,000 volumes, 800 periodical titles, and 100 archival collections.

The meeting is open to the public. Gerber Hart is located at 6500 N Clark Street in Chicago. Free parking is available at the building or take the CTA Bus 22. The library is wheel-chair accessible/ADA compliant. For more information on the event call 773-381-8030.
