CHICAGO The Gene Siskel Film Center ( GSFC ) of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago ( SAIC ) presents the 88th Academy Awards® Nominations Panel Thursday, January 14, 2016. Associate Artistic Director of the Chicago Humanities Festival Alison Cuddy moderates a lively panel discussion about this year's nominees with Chicago film critics Marilyn Ferdinand ( Ferdy on Films ), J.R. Jones ( Chicago Reader ), Michael Phillips ( Chicago Tribune ), Steve Prokopy ( Ain't It Cool News ) and Ignatiy Vishnevetsky ( MUBI Notebook and The A.V. Club ). This free event will be held at the GSFC from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a post event reception.
"There is no better place to hear about all of the excitement surrounding the Oscar nominations than at the Gene Siskel Film Center," said GSFC Executive Director Jean De St. Aubin. "Our esteemed panel of film critics each gives their unique insight and perspective into the biggest surprises, most shocking snubs and of course their own predictions for the 88th Academy Awards."
The Academy Awards® nominations panel kicks-off one of GSFC's most highly-anticipated events, "Hollywood on State: When You're the Star." This annual Oscars viewing party takes place February 28, 2016 and brings the magic of Hollywood to the Windy City.

The Gene Siskel Film Center once again hosts Chicago's longest-running awards show viewing party for the 88th Academy Awards® February 28, 2016. The red carpet celebration features glamour, gourmet food and libations while watching Hollywood's biggest night on the Big Screen. Hollywood on State will also once again honor local filmmakers during this star-studded evening ( honorees will be announced at a later date ).
