Bonnie Alcorn has turned a love of math that was nurtured by, in her opinion, the best math teacher ever ( Mr. Caudill ) into two fulfilling careers. She is currently an adjunct instructor at Waubonsee Community College teaching developmental math to adult learnersbut this isn't her first foray into the teaching world.
Teaching has always been in her blood. In the 1970s, Alcorn taught computer classes but took a break to raise her daughter.
Later, while also working as a computer system administrator at the high energy physics research lab Fermilab ( she is now retired ) , Alcorn began teaching again. Currently, Alcorn teaches one class on Thursday night and two classes on Saturdays.
While still at Fermilab she was part of the team that wrote a development paper for a conference called "Fermilab's Multi-Petabyte Scalable Mass Storage System." As with everything else in Alcorn's life she doesn't consider this a big deal.
Alcorn just lives a quiet life in the suburbs teaching, volunteering and spending time with her family and friends.
