Fewer stories, a new facade and the removal of balconies are among the changes to a proposed "straight-friendly" hotel in Boystown.
Revised plans for the Out Chicago, slated to sit at Halsted and Buckingham, have been released, and the changes aim to ease some resident concerns.
New plans reduce the building's original design from 12 stories down to eight. Balconies have been removed in response to neighbor concerns about noise. The top floor has been set back on all four sides to make the building appear smaller.
Ian Reisner, managing partner of Parkview Developers, which is modeling the hotel after its Out NYC resort, was scheduled to present the new plans at a meeting of the Belmont Harbor Neighbors Association June 24. That meeting, however, was canceled as the 19th Dist. Police Station, which was to host the event, was not available due police work related to the Blackhawk's playoff game.
According to a statement put out by Reisner, the building will be 79 feet but appear to be 69 feet. Details on the material of the facade have yet to be announced, Reisner said. But a new rendering of the building shows the building shows a dark-colored sleek hotel, instead of the shiny white structure first presented.
Further information is expected at the rescheduled Belmont Harbor Neighbors Association meeting. The board of that group is expected to vote on the plans. Details on the new meeting have yet to be released.
